First Year

Erik

When moving up to San Jose, I decided to give myself a plan of action. I thought that during first semester, I would try to just adjust to campus life. When I first start school up here, I was very alone. The only beneficial thread I had was that Erik had been up here attending. So I did have a friend I could interact with. I would hang out with him and his friends.

Irene

During my second semester, I wanted to try to make some friends. Till now, I had just been piggybacking with Erik and his friends but I did feel like a bit of a third wheel to his group. But during second semester, I took a shop class. It was one of those classes where you kind of just talk and interact with the people around your table. At my table, I met some people but the friendship that continued through and after that class was with Irene.

Cat

During first semester, I had taken and online class of over 50 people. So there were several pages to the Zoom call with many people camera off. During second semester, I had been drawing outside and a girl came over to say hi to me. I did not recognize her but she remembered me from that class. Near the end of the semester, she reintroduced herself as Cat. We traded discord usernames so we wouldn't lose contact during the summer. We spent that entire summer talking to each other in calls that could span over 6 hours or longer. Through those final weeks of the semester and the summer, we became really close friends and she is still one of my closest friends.
